GRAPHIC OVERLAY MATERIAL |
|
| |
Most membrane panels include text and logo. The graphic layer is printed on the reverse side with its design showing through the material. The four main graphic layer materials are: |
 |
1) Coated Polyester |
2) Polycarbonate |
3) Velvet Textured Bayfol |
4) Special Materials |

Polyester |
-40-120℃ |
Typically: 0.1-0.3mm |
Polyester is embossed by thermoforming at elevated temperatures. The flex life is excellent. |
Polycarbonate |
-60-100℃ |
Typically: 0.1-0.5mm |
Polycarbonate also embosses well at normal ambient temperatures but flex life is much reduced compared to polyester or Bayfol. |
Velvet Texture Bayfol |
Refer to the datasheet
|
Velvet Textured Bayfol is the easiest of these materials to emboss, and the process is carried out at normal room temperature. Bayfol is a blend of polycarbonate and polybutyleneterephthalate. It produces good rims and pillow and provides good flex life. |
Special Materials |
Refer to the datasheet
|
Special Materials, other materials such as Polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) and specially coated polyester and polycarbonate can be used if there are unusual environmental requirements. As can be expected, there are cost penalties with using special materials. Consult In2tec for advice |

CIRCUIT MATERIAL |
|
Screening can be provided by screen printing conductive ink (silver/graphite) on top of the circuit layer. |
The common material of circuit layer is Polyester in the industry today. |

DIELECTRIC CHARACTERICS OF MATERIALS |
|
- Polyester offers the best all-round dielectric properties. |
|
- ESD/RFI screening is possible, usually at little extra cost. |
